The Savings Jar Card: Turning Loose Change into Store Value
What happens to a customer's small change is a retention decision, not a rounding error. A savings jar card converts the change owed on a cash purchase into credit on a closed-loop card, so value that would otherwise leave the store as coins stays with the brand as future spend.

How It Works at the Till
A customer pays $20 for $19.75 of goods. Rather than handing back $0.25, the cashier presses a cash return key on the POS and swipes or scans a savings jar card; the balance transfers to the card account instantly. On every later visit the customer chooses again: cash, or credit. Nothing slows the queue, and no new payment rail is involved.
Why Small Balances Behave Differently
Individually the amounts are trivial; accumulated, they become a reason to come back. Because the value is redeemable only with the issuing retailer, the saving habit belongs to one brand. And like gift card balances, the accrued credit tends to be treated as free money — a floor for the next basket rather than the whole of it, which is where the uplift comes from.
Ogloba's role is the infrastructure underneath: card accounts, POS behaviour and redemption rules configured so a routine coin-handling moment becomes a repeat-visit mechanism.

No. On every later visit they choose again — cash, or credit — so the mechanism never becomes something the queue has to negotiate.

Usually not. Like gift card balances, the credit is treated as free money — a floor for the next basket rather than the whole of it, which is where the uplift comes from.
