Ogloba Team5 min read

Ogloba has introduced Smart Redeem, a feature enabling mobile gift card redemption without requiring merchant ECR integration with the gift card platform, addressing challenges faced by smaller retailers lacking advanced technology infrastructure.

How Smart Redeem Works

The system allows customers and merchants to complete redemptions through a smartphone-based process. Customers select their card and choose "Smart Redeem" from the options menu. The cashier enters the redemption amount and their Cashier ID, which the customer must then approve. Once approved, "a unique authorisation stamp (typically 16 digits in length)" is generated as a transaction reference.

Requirements for Retailers

Three basic prerequisites enable retailers to use Smart Redeem. First, merchants establish a new payment method on their cash register labeled "pay by Ogloba" for gift card redemptions. Second, retailers export a list of unique cashier IDs or store IDs (MIDs) for transaction processing and authorization. Third, the cashier must have means to scan, key in, or record the authorization stamp to identify each transaction.

Processing and Security

Following business day closure, the gift card aggregator remits payment to the retailer. Since cards are stored on Ogloba's database and transactions process through Ogloba servers, "security and accuracy are assured." Periodic reports are available to support accounting and management functions.

FAQ
